ON CHINA’S EXPERIENCE IN COUNTERING MANIPULATIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN SOCIAL NETWORKS OF THE INTERNET

Abstract

The article shows China’s experience in countering manipulative technologies in social networks of the Internet. The author examined China’s legislative and organizational measures against the dissemination of unwanted information in the Chinese Internet segment. Besides, the author gives concrete examples of the actions of the Chinese leadership on countering manipulative technologies in 2011, when the opposition made attempts to initiate protest moods in accordance to the Middle East scenario and in 2014 during the protests in Hong Kong. It is concluded that the Chinese leadership intends to take full control of the Internet functioning and development in the country.
