Detection of fluoride ion by chemosensing and fluorosensing technology

Abstract

Fluoride concentration is very much important to know as it has good and bad effects. Fluoride is the main useful ingredient of toothpaste. Fluoride prevents tooth decay and the breakdown of enamel. It also increased the rate of the remineralization process but an excess may cause fluorosis. Fluoride can pollute water and food chains and create health hazards, therefore, the rapid and ease of detection and determination of fluoride content is of the greatest importance for the scientific community. In this review, we have paid attention to the sensing method of fluoride ion detection and determination based on different moieties and we have categorically divided all the chemo and fluoro sensors of fluoride anion. The systematic arrangement can give a better understanding of the structure and activity relationship for fluoride anion which can help to design suitable probes for fluoride.
