The main pathological features of AD are β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition, hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein, and progressive neuronal loss. Pyroptosis is one of the main forms of neuronal death, which is mainly caused by the activation of Gasdermin protein by upstream signals and the release of its N-terminal domain on the cell membrane. Studies have shown that there is a close relationship between Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and pyroptosis. Therefore, this paper summarizes the relationship between pyroptosis and its molecular mechanism and AD, as well as the related research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of AD by regulating pyroptosis, in order to provide a new direction for the study of AD pathogenesis based on pyroptosis pathway. Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease, cell pyroptosis, inflammasome, traditional Chinese medicine
