Giardiasis in children: what's new?

Abstract

Giardia is one of the main causative agents of intestinal infections in children, especially young children. The article highlights the current understanding of the global prevalence of giardiasis, current laboratory capacities for diagnosis and treatment of giardiasis in children. Anti-Giardia agents used in the treatment of giardiasis are characterized, recommendations for treatment and prevention are suggested.
