La photographie comme représentation : L’ancrage et l’objectivation iconographique
Abstract
This paper discusses the use of place photography as a tool for the collection of spatial representations. The approach is based on the presence of anchoring and objectification processes in the iconography which reveals a communication relationship as well as a socio-spatial representation. 20 inhabitants of Montreuil-sous-Bois took characteristic and non-characteristic pictures of four imposed places in their city. The results show that in order to represent what is characteristic of a place, people anchor and objectify their photos in the use and/or frequentation of the place. Conversely, uncharacteristic photos attempt to be impersonal. The photography of places appears as a real communication between individuals and as a tool to be developed to approach the sociospatial representations.
