Thematically, in Edgar Allan Poe’s fiction, the concept of principium individuationis (principle of individuation) is a complex system of topics and interconnected elements, involving the notions of rational being, national and cultural identities, and social role. The purpose of this essay is to examine comparatively the idea of principium individuationis in “Morela” (1835) and others works by Poe, according to the studies undertaken by David Halliburton (1973), Martin Roth (1979), and Beverly R. Voloshin (1996).
