Comparison Of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy And Laparoscopic Roux N Y Gastric Bypass Procedures With Reflux Symptom İndex: A Retrospective Study
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: We aimed to evaluate the results of the postoperative reflux of morbid obesity that underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and laparoscopic roux n y gastric bypass (LRYGB) in our study METHODS: We have reviewed 112 patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and laparoscopic roux n y gastric bypass for morbid obesity between January 2013 and March 2016 in our bariatric surgery clinic retrospectively. Demographic findings, reflux symptom index scores, and global impression scale, were assessed. Patients were considered to be similarized in body mass index, age, and gender. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants in the study was 37.12 +- 5.51 (mean age range 23-57), mean BMI 46.3 +- 4.7 kg / m2 (range 40-55). The mean duration of operation was calculated as 87.9 +- 16.1 minutes in laparoscopic roux n y gastric bypass, also 72.5 +- 12.7 minutes (range 25-102 minutes) in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy process. Mean postoperative hospital stay was 4.2 days in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy,7.3 days in laparoscopic roux n y gastric bypass group. Complications were observed in 4 patients after surgery, mortality was seen in any patient. All of the operations were finished laparoscopically Multivariate logistic regression analysis utilized for evaluating the independent prognostic factors for reflux symptoms as age, gender and body mass index. Statistically significant results were accepted as p <0.05. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Although the gastric bypass procedure applied to bariatric surgery has a higher morbidity rate than sleeve gastrectomy, the reflux reduction effects and quality of life scoring values are better
