RESUMEN: Este artículo tratará de explicar el papel que ocuparon las mujeres imperiales de la dinastía Antonina en la política imperial y en concreto en la legitimación del poder imperial que sus maridos obtenían, a pesar de que la adoptio fue el sistema institucional que marcó la sucesión del Imperium en el periodo tratado.ABSTRACT: This article will attempt to explain the role played by imperial women in Antonine dynasty in imperial policy and specifically in the legitimation of the imperial power that their husbands obtained, in spite of the fact that the adoptio was the institutional system that marked the succession of the imperium in this period.
