This paper develops some lines of research about the nation and the national in my History lessons. This is being carried out in my Master thesis. Throughout my career as a History teacher, working with the concept of nation and national History has turned out to be extre-mely hard for me. That is why this topic has become the center of my reflections and a sort of obsession. In this work, I present three lines of research that try to explain why this is a difficult topic to teach for me. The first line focuses on the complexity of the concept. The second line explores the relationship, not always so clear, between the teaching of History, the collective memory and nation. And the third one, focuses its analysis on my personal history. This brings a deep ethical issue when it comes to nation because it can be inclusive and discriminative at the same time.
