Lattice fluctuations strongly influences the optoelectronic properties of metal-halide perovskites. Laquai et al. demonstrate, by ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy, that the band gap narrowing and the carrier localization in the terahertz regime are due to photo-induced lattice fluctuations.
