Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of victims of serious occupational accidents reported between the years 2014 to 2018 in a large municipality in the state of Pernambuco. Method: This is a descriptive, quantitative study, carried out with information from the secondary database of the Ministry of Health in the Information System of Notifiable Diseases. Results: A total of 167 serious occupational accidents were reported. Of these, the highest percentage involved male workers, of mixed race, with complete high school education, and aged between 30 and 49 years. There was also a predominance of accidents that occurred on the contractor’s premises and most cases evolved with temporary disability. Conclusions: The results provide subsidies for the strengthening of Workers’ Health Surveillance actions that focus on the prevention of serious occupational accidents, considering the relevance of these diseases in Public Health.
