In dokkai, many learner have difficulty. Results of questionnaire mentioned that difficulty experienced by student in the reading comprehension (Dokkai) namely to understand kanji, bunpou, meaning of vocabulary, and meaning of sentence. he results of the questionnaire distributed (September 2014) indicate that the difficulties experienced by the majority of students in dokkai learning is to understand kanji, bunpou, meaning vocabulary, and the meaning of sentences. So it can be said that complex difficulties done by themselves (Broughton in Tarigan, 2008; Iskandarwassid, 2008). To solve the problem, it is necessary to conduct an activity of cooperation in understanding the discourse that is one of Peer Learning method which in recent years is being done in Japan. The theory of Peer Reading (Ogasa Emiko, 2006; Kobayashi Yuki, 2012) was based on the theory of Tateoka (2004, 2007) which was used as the main source of pilot study in this study. The purpose of this research is to know any significant difference in learner’s ability in dokkai before and after instruction by using Peer Reading; to determine effectiveness of implementation of Peer Reading method increasing ability in dokkai; to determine learner's response of dokkai using Peer Reading. The method is true experimental method with Pre-Test Post-Test Control Design. The sample were taken by simple random sampling technique. The sample is student level II Department of Japanese Language Education of academic year 2014/2015 as many as 40 people. Based on result of analysis data, this study concluded that in dokkai, application of Peer Reading method is more effective as compared with conventional method. In addition, analysis of questionnaire showed that student gave positive respond to application of Peer Reading method in dokkai.
