Use of Vimang in patients at Medical Office 22, Pedro Díaz Coello Polyclinic 2020

Introduction: the practice of phytotherapy is almost as old as man. The extract from the bark of the mango tree has traditionally been used in natural medicine in many countries for the treatment of various conditions. In Cuba it is produced industrially in the form of syrup, tablets and creams under the trademark Vimang. Objective: to describe the behavior of the use of Vimang in the population of office 22, Pedro Díaz Coello Polyclinic, from January to March 2020. Method: descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study was carried out in office 22 of the Pedro Díaz Coello Polyclinic, Holguín municipality, from January to March 2020, to obtain information on the use of Vimang in this population. The universe consisted of 883 patients from whom 30 patients who used the Vimang were randomly taken as a sample. The variables used were: Age, Sex, Personal pathological history, Educational level, Source of information, Most used presentation, Condition for which it was most used and Results. Results: Vimang was used in a greater proportion by women (83.3%). The most used pharmaceutical formulation was the syrup to treat colds (63.3%), its effects were positive in the majority of the patients who used it. The main source of knowledge of this phytopharmaceutical was the popular comment (40%). Conclusions: The investigation showed that there is insufficient knowledge about Vimang and little disclosure by the family doctor's office of the utilities and various uses of this phytopharmaceutical.
