This text has for starting point an intuition affecting my artistic practice of author of digital comics: one would attend concomitantly to a progressive disaffection of the computer screens by the public to the profit of the screens of smartphones and to a progressive impoverishment of the design of the graphical interfaces. The text first questions this intuition. Is the hypothesis of an impoverishment or disappearance of graphical interfaces true? By temporarily leaving the field of digital comics, the text sketches the contours of a larger historical and aesthetic context in which it seems necessary to situate it today: that of webdesign. The comparative analysis of a corpus of so-called creative websites and digital comics, under the umbrella of the notions of editorial enunciation, of architext and of narrative-interface, leads us to prefer to speak of inapparence and erasure of graphical interfaces. This analysis also allows us to trace a common history of digital comics and webdesign in which plastic resonances are played out between the two fields. The text then makes the hypothesis that the tabularity of the comic page, the modularity of the graphic interfaces and the multimedia regime are intrinsically linked, adjusting each other according to the others, and that they would become obsolete with the use of emergent technologies such as the virtual reality.
