Review of empirical studies on political prison in Chile

Abstract

The objective of this article is to make an exploratory study of the empirical investigations carried out to date on political prison in Chile. These studies are referred entirely to the period of the dictatorship, that is, the period between 1973 and 1990. To do this, a search was made in various databases and / or bibliographic reference systems, selecting only empirical studies on the subject. From the results obtained, a cadaster of them was carried out, establishing three thematic areas in which the investigations are concentrated. A brief review of them is made, and the issues that are considered relevant in this review of specialized literature are expressed.
