The Kestrel, Falco tinnunculus, as an indicator of environmental quality along the coast of Lazio
Abstract
We studied (2000-2007) the use of the habitat and the environmental preferences of the Kestrel along the coast of Lazio. The abundance of the species is seasonal and only the areas rich in spontaneous vegetation are positively selected. During the breeding season the agricultural ecosystems are avoided and the cultivation of wheat and maize become important only after the harvest.
