The purpose of this study was to address the integrated coast area management of Eber and Akşehir Lakes which are located in the southwest part of our country in the area called the Lakes District and their shorelines. The method is generally based on the use, protection and planning of the shore areas worldwide. The method is based on taking all physical environmental conditions into consideration, rational use and exploitation of the shores as well as sustainability. Eber and Akşehir Lakes have low coast characteristics and the shorelines have rather diverse characteristics. In winter when the lake level is increased due to increased precipitation the shoreline edges into the mainland whereas in summer with the increasing drought and lack of precipitation the lakes shrink. As a result of increased irrigation made necessary by drought and global climate change the lake levels have decreased and marsh areas have developed in the lake areas. In places where the depth of the lakes has decreased aquatic plants have taken over to cover the lake surface and increased dumping of waste into lakes in the recent years has caused eutrophication. The coastal areas are used as pastures while the lakes are also used for agricultural irrigation, fishing and hunting
