Deflagrate the zero: observer and language in Inserções em Circuitos Ideológicos
Abstract
The present paper discuss the artwork Inserções em Circuitos Ideológicos, by Cildo Meireles, from the point of view of the creative act, with emphasis in the importance of the spectator; and language, focusing the theory of myth, by Roland Barthes. By utilizing this framework, a detailed analysis of the work is made, discussing the differences between Projeto Coca-Cola and Projeto Cédula regarding the role of spectator; the notion of ‘circuit’; and ways of overcoming ideological alienation.
