Objective To study the correlationship between circulating tumor cell (CTC) detected preoperatively and pathological staging of gastric cancer and the effect of detection of CTC on prediction of pathological staging. Methods The data of 30 cases with gastric cancer subjected to radical surgery in Ruijin Hospital North from January 2016 to December 2017 were collected. All cases had the detection of CTC preoperatively. The correlationship between the amount with subtype of CTC and pathological staging postoperatively were analyzed. Results The amount and subtype of CTC detected preoperatively were correlated with N stage of gastric cancer, however, which were not correlated with T stage. The amount of interstitial CTC was correlated with both TNM stage and N stage of gastric cancer closely. Conclusions The preoperative CTC was correlated with the postoperative pathological staging of gastric cancer which would be helpful to predict the clinical prognosis of gastric cancer.
