Los Mikeletes de Gipuzkoa

Abstract

We aim to place the state of the issue at present of the traditional foral police, mikeletes of Guipuzcoa, on the basis of its origins after the old regime and within the foral system. It continues with its development, certainly conflictive compared to other State and autonomic policies, without forgetting the local policies so as to get to the present circumstances which show a very difficult accomodation for those policies. The key issue is their connection and relationship with the emerging and powerful police under the authority of the Basque government, more than its mere survival which reveals itself as a topic to be classified with relevance.
