The SPI1/SMAD5 cascade in the promoting effect of icariin on osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells: a mechanism study

Abstract

Highlights SPI1 and SMAD5 are upregulated during MC3T3-E1 cell osteogenic differentiation. SPI1 enhances SMAD5 transcription. Icariin increases SMAD5 expression by upregulating SPI1. The SPI1/SMAD5 axis underlies the promoting effect of icariin on MC3T3-E1 cell osteogenic differentiation.
