Soil / cementitious experimental research to improve the foundation ground of the cañada el Hatillo-Ocaña-Colombia pass road
Abstract
This article presents the results of the Soil / Cementing Experimental Investigation to improve the foundation ground in Cañada el Hatillo, Municipality of Ocaña. The land in the area of interest is made up of clayey and silty sands in a loose to moderately compact state with a thickness of 4.4 m, underlain by a silt-type sedimentary rock that gives rise to a sandy silty soil of low plasticity; the groundwater is located at the level of the natural terrain. For this project, a foundation box offset to a depth of 1 m and supported on a clay sand improved to a depth of 2.74 m by adding cement and lime was recommended to achieve a simple compressive strength qu = 586 kPa. With the improved soil, an admissible load capacity qadmissible = 235 kPa was obtained, a value that is greater than the bending-compression stresses caused by static and dynamic loads due to vehicle traffic, of magnitude 64.7 and 11.8 kPa, for the maximum and minimum value respectively. The immediate settlements were of the order of 3 cm under the entire area of the foundation box.
