Abstract
The image of Philip IV’s monarchy according to the brushes of Velázquez, is valued and put in parallel with the contents of a publication, under Portugal’s auspice and legitimating his rupture, printed in Barcelona, 1644, and that encourages the revolt of Cataluña, in syntony with the France’s policy against Spain.
