This study comes in the current context in which the European Commission, chaired by Von der Leyen, stressed the need for a unitary and fair tax system in the European Union (CE, 2019). Moreover, considering the present macroeconomic environment influenced by the pandemic evolution and the current budgetary projections, implicitly by the historical Budget, previously approved by the European Council, I consider it appropriate to analyse the fiscal legislative efforts of the European Union. This case study aims to analyse the impact on the Romanian State Budget if the proposal for a European Union Directive on corporate taxation will be adopted. Considering the legislative area of which the proposal for directive is part of, namely fiscal policy, where the Member States, based on the existing treaties, retain their sovereignty over the tax law and the Romanian representatives in the European Council have a veto on unitary tax regulations, the results of this study may be a guide to how Romanian representatives will vote within the European Council. Taking into consideration the fact that once the common consolidated base will be introduced, by maintaining the current rules presented in the legislative proposal, the impact on the Romanian’s national Budget will be a positive one.
