An Analysis of the Consequences of Urban Creep in the Development of Surrounding Rural Settlements (Case Study: Villages around the City of Marivan)
Abstract
Over the past few decades, horizontal growth and unplanned physical development in cities have led to changes in the development of rural villages around the cities. These changes, besides having limited positive aspects, have mostly negative impact on the development of rural areas around cities. In this regard, the main objective of the present study is to identify the consequences of Marivan Creep phenomenon on the changes in the development status of the surrounding villages, which has been rapidly expanding in the last few decades.The present research is purposeful, applied, in terms of type, descriptive-analytical, and in terms of gathering information, a combination of documentary-survey method. The information gathering in the theoretical part is documentary and in the field is a survey method for interviewing experts and locals to identify the consequences and then distribute the questionnaire and view the status quo to generalize the findings from the interviews. The study area includes 5 villages around the city of Marivan. The statistical population consisted of 30 specialists, detectives and supervisors of households in 964 households, which of these 303 households were identified by the Cocran formula as the sample size. The sampling method in first was used by stratified and then the simple random method used. The results of analyzing data with inferential statistics (one way, single test and Friedman test), hierarchical analysis method and Moren spatial correlation test showed that urban creep phenomena, in addition to the consequences Limited positive in improving physical condition, causing social failure, economic failure, inadequate visual quality, and degradation of the natural environment and inadequacies of institutional management. Also, the Mosc village and then Lanjabad, the most affected by the effects of urban creep in its development, and the index of structural changes and social values, had the greatest impact on the instability of rural development due to the impact of urban creep phenomenon. Finally, the findings also showed that Marivan urban creep pattern and migrants were cluster.
