The phase and spin state affect catalytic activity of Co-based catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction. Herein, the authors demonstrate a simple reconstruction strategy to fabricate electrodes maintaining a Fe-CoOOH phase and an intermediate-spin state during catalysis.
