A case of bronchogenic cysts
Abstract
A 22-year-old male presented with a pimple on the left neck for three years. Physical examination revealed a demarcated pink papule in 0.2 cm of diameter on the left neck, with central eruption, but no extrusion. Dermoscopic examination revealed pink background under nonpolar light, with central eruption, while under polar light, a pink background with central eruption, surrounded by white structureless area and dilated blood vessels. Histopathological examination showed a cyst and lumens which were lined with pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium. Epidermal polypoid projection, mucous cells in the dermis and lymphocytic infiltration around the lumens were evident. The epidermis exhibited transition of some squamous epithelial tissue to stratified columnar epithelium tissue. Diagnosis was bronchogenic cysts. After surgical excision, no recurrence was observed during a 3-month follow-up.
