This article presents the results of a socio-psychological study of intercultural competence in the Irkutsk region. A questionnaire was developed for the study, consisting of nine sections (the territorial section, historical section, a section of culture and symbolism, the population section, section of nationalities, religions, traditions and customs of the section, the section of the main attractions of the region of Lake Baikal) and 36 closed issues. This methodology allows to reveal CMT respondent in each block, and compare them. The survey involved representatives of Buryat and Russian nationalities. All data about results of research are shown in the form of percent. Found that the level of intercultural competence can be introduced at three levels: high, medium, low. In a study in the Irkutsk region has identified the level of intercultural competence is above average. We also found that the level of intercultural competence is affected by independent variables such as age, education, place of residence, nationality and the length of their stay in the region.
