Three decades of glocalization research: A bibliometric analysis
Abstract
AbstractGlocalization, adapting global practices to local contexts, has become increasingly important in scientific research. However, the impact of global and local collaboration networks on glocalization remains underexplored. In this study, we conduct a bibliometric analysis to examine publications in the field of glocalization recorded in the Scopus database from 1993–2023. Using data from 12,046 publications, we identify key themes, publication trends, and methodological designs related to glocalization and collaboration networks. We then develop a theoretical model incorporating these factors to better understand the relationship between global and local collaboration networks and glocalization. This unprecedented study suggests that global and local collaboration networks are important in promoting glocalization in scientific research. We discuss the implications of our findings for future research and practitioners seeking to promote glocalization in their scientific endeavors.
