Considering a few discussions during our study on the importance that the literary text (LT) has for language teaching and learning, we propose to introduce some reflections and perspectives that the literary material receives in classroom, especially in Spanish language classes, in basic education, college teaching or languages courses. In order to do that, we based our research on authors such as Tenorio and Reusával (1992), Mendoza Fillola (2002, 2007), Albadejo (2007), Jouin, K (2008) and Santos (2007), among others. Along the text, as we delineate the reflections and identify the perspectives that the LT brings to teaching, we also provide some suggestions for the use of this tex t for Spanish teaching classes.
