Errors and Accurate Correction Methods in Ophthalmic Visual Field Tests
Abstract
This study aimed to strengthen visual field testing standards and improve the quality of patient care in ophthalmology by emphasizing the need for accurate refractive correction. Accurate refractive correction is essential for obtaining reliable and meaningful visual field test results. Visual field testing is a crucial diagnostic tool for assessing a patient’s peripheral visual range and function. Inaccurate correction can lead to measurement errors, increasing the risk of misdiagnosis. This paper highlights the importance of precise refractive correction in visual field testing and reports the impact of inaccurate correction on the test accuracy. This study used a Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 to compare the results under various conditions, including the distance between the eye and lens, spherical lens correction, and cylindrical axis correction. The results confirmed that precise correction is indispensable for detecting subtle visual field defects and ensuring the accuracy of test results.
