On the problem of the translation of the phrasal idioms with no equivalent dictionary entries (demonstrated on Czech and Russian material)

Abstract

Author analyzes well-known methods of unique phraseological units translation. Advantages of the method that uses an alternate phraseological unit of the same semantic field are presented. Article gives several Czech and Russian examples.
