Examination of Professional Behaviors According to the Gender and Grade Level in Nursing Students

INTRODUCTION: That the nursing students display professional behaviours is important to improve the quality of vocational development and care. The study aims to compare the professional behavior of nursing students according to gender and grade level. METHODS: This study was carried out with the second, third and fourth grade nursing students who were teaching at health school of a university. The research data were obtained from 329 students by using the Personal Information Form and the Nursing Students Professional Behaviour Scale. Descriptive statistics, t test and One-Way ANOVA analysis were used for the evaluation of research data. RESULTS: The mean score of nursing students' professional behaviour scale was calculated as 119.56 +- 10.46. It was determined that the views of the students regarding the display professional behaviours differed significantly according to gender (t: 3.158; p: 0.002) and grade level (F: 3.247; p: 0.040). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: As a result of the research, it was found that nursing students can display professional behaviours at a good level. It was determined that female students are better than male students in displaying professional behaviours, and there are differences in displaying professional behaviours according to the grade level.
