This paper discusses the dispute, over the aid of divine grace to human action and the notion of freedom given to the man in front of the foresight and divine predestination, faced Jesuits and Dominicans in the sixteenth century. In this polemic arguments are based on interpretations of the Fathers of the Church and theologians, especially Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. Bañez and Molina both used Augustine to support their thesis, highlighting the Dominican the fragments that give priority to God’s effect on human action and emphasizing the Jesuit the fragments in which it highlights the role of free will.
