A 10 year study of surgical abdominal masses in university hospital No:1 Kerman university of medical sciences and health services

In order to determine the prevalence rate of abdominal masses in children referred to the Kerman university hospital number one from 1984 to 1994, the medical records of 51 of these children were reviewed. 27 of these patients were boys (53℅), and 24 were girls (47℅). The age variance of these patients were between 3 months and 14 years. In this study, the most common tumor was Wilm,s tumor (31℅) , followed by Burkitt,s lymphoma (21.5℅), neuroblastoma (8.7℅) and hepatoblastoma (6℅). Diagnostic methods were careful clinical examination, ultrasound, intravenous pyelography and C.T scan.
