The Effect of Nurses' Perception of Diversity Management on Organizational Happiness Levels
Abstract
Aim: This study aims to determine how nurses' perceptions of diversity management influence their organizational happiness. Method: A descriptive, cross-sectional, and relational design was used in this study. The research was carried out between November 2019 and June 2021. The data were collected from 204 volunteer nurses working in three hospitals in the city center of Ankara between December 2019 and February 2021. 'Personal Information Form', 'Diversity Management Scale' and 'Organizational Happiness Scale' were used as data collection tools. Ethics committee permission and institutional permissions were obtained for the research. Frequency and percentage distribution, descriptive statistics, Pearson product moments correlation analysis, Linear regression analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal Wallis H test, LSD Post Hoc test, and Cronbach alpha analysis were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: According to the findings obtained from the research; The nurses' perceptions of the management of differences were moderate (Mean+-SD=98.32+-22.16), the dimension they perceived most negatively was individual attitudes and behaviors (Mean+-SD=13.24+-3.24), and their organizational happiness level was moderate (Mean+-SD=94.43+-22.25). It was discovered that there are positive and highly significant relationships between the diversity management scale and all of its sub-dimensions and the organizational happiness scale and all of its sub-dimensions (p<0.001), and that nurses' perceptions of diversity management have a positive effect on their organizational happiness levels (R=.525, R2=.275, p<.05). Furthermore, the perception of the management of differences accounted for 28% of the total variance of the organizational happiness scale. Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was revealed that the nurses' perceptions of diversity management and organizational happiness levels were moderate; their perceptions of diversity management positively affected their organizational happiness.
