Black soldier fly as a target for pig feed production
Abstract
Abstract. At present, interest in the world in the use of components from Black soldier fly larvae in the feeding of animals, poultry and fish is steadily growing. By the order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 10, 2023 N 2761-r "On Amendments to the order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated January 25, 2017. N 79-r", the list of agricultural products includes products from the Black soldier fly (fats, flour, granules, etc.). It is planned to scale up Black soldier fly larvae rearing technologies in substantial volumes, which will allow the production of animal protein (protein meal) and lipid concentrate from larvae. The aim of our study was to analyze the publications included in foreign and domestic databases (Sciencedirect.com, PubMed, Elibrary) on the use of Black soldier fly components in pig feeding. Analysis of the number of publications indicates an increase in interest in the topic of using larvae in pig nutrition over the last 5-6 years. The analysis was carried out on works directly related to feeding pigs diets with the addition of both dried larvae of the Black soldier fly and various products from it. The use of protein concentrate, as well as fat, will improve digestibility and assimilation of energy, nitrogen and minerals in pigs, increase the level of metabolic energy, and nitrogen retention. Future studies should be devoted to an in-depth study of the functional benefits of Black soldier fly larvae and their fractions in piglet diets.
