Microscopic polyangiitis
Abstract
A white elderly patient, with a history of hypertension, gout and type 2 diabetes mellitus was admitted with severe cough, dyspnea, marked asthenia and hematemesis. She evolved unfavorably presenting hemoptysis, basic acid imbalances and died in irreversible shock with a clinical diagnosis of Goodpasture syndrome; at necropsy, it was concluded to be a microscopic polyangiitis.
