The Effectiveness of Quran Recitation Software on Academic Motivation and the Learning of Religious Concepts among Female Fourth Grade Elementary School Students
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of Quran recitation software on academic motivation and the learning of Quranic concepts among female fourth grade elementary school students in Zone 2 of Urmia. The purpose of study is applied and it was conducted with a quasi-experimental method and pretest-posttest design with a control group. The population included all female fourth grade elementary school students with the number of 2361. 54 students were selected by the simple random sampling and they were randomly placed in two test and control groups. Before intervention, each of two groups responded to a researcher-made questionnaire of the learning of religious concepts (including beliefs, rules, and ethics) and Harter's academic motivation scale as pretest phase. Then, the independent variable (Quran recitation software) was performed for the test group during eight one-hour sessions, while the control group was educated by traditional methods. After the end of educations, those tests were performed for each of two groups as posttest phase. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics (analysis of co-variance). The results showed that there is a significant difference between the average of the scores of academic motivation (internal and external) and the learning of religious concepts among the students of two groups (P<0.05). In other words, Quran recitation software has effect on academic motivation (internal and external) and the learning of religious concepts.
