After relating Don Quijote’s and Sancho Panza’s encounter with the duke and the duchess, chapters 30 to 33 of the Second part of Don Quixote, which are commented upon in this study, tell the first series of episodes that transpired during the visit to the ducal palace. Although the duchess seeks to drag Sancho down a farcical path, Sancho’s antics not only take shape outside of the common paths of the burlesque, but also manage to achieve, without any dissonance, a kind of communion with the good intentions, loyalty and lucidity akin to those of the righteous man.
