In the Crimea, especially in the Cimmerian Bosporus, a series of items of women's dress, belt buckles and brooches is witnessed, which are rightly considered to be characteristic of the Italian Ostrogoths Suit of the 6th century. At the same time, there is no written information about any contacts between the Italian Ostrogoths and the Taurica residents. The appearance of the Ostrogothic things in the Taurica has long been in connection with the arrival here of the Byzantine military contingent, partly composed of the Goths. It is about the military action of Justinian I in 527/528 or 533/534 against the Huns who captured the Cimmerian Bosporus. Military deportation of the Ostrogoths to the Taurica near or after 535, together with their families, may be the reason for the appearance of elements of Ostrogothic material culture in the Northern Black Sea region.
