Hemotórax e hemopneumotórax espontâneos: causas raras de internamento

Abstract

RESUMO: Os autores fazem a revisão e descrição sumária dos 5 casos de hemotórax e hemopneumotórax espontâneos internados no serviço de Pneumologia do H.S.João entre 1983 e 1995, comentando as situações em que foi possivel identificar patologia subjacente com eles relacionada. Foram diagnosticados 1 caso de neuroepitelioma periférico,1 caso de aderências pleurais e 1 caso de bolhas subpleurais. Os restantes 2 casos foram considerados idiopáticos. Todos foram submetidos a drenagem torácica e apenas 1 doente necessitou de transfusão. O “follow-up” variou entre 6 meses e 3 anos, não se tendo observado recidiva de hemotórax em nenbum caso. Não se verificaram sequelas e todos os doentes se mantêm assintomátieos após a resolução do hemopneumotórax. ABSTRACT: The authors review and summarise all the 5 cases of spontaneous hemothorax and hemopneumothorax admitted at the Pneumology ward of H.S. João between 1983 and 1995, and comment those situations where an underling disease could be implicated. We found 1 case of neuroepithelioma, 1 case of pleural adhesions and 1 case of pulmonary bullae. The other 2 cases were considered as idiopathic. All patients underwent thoracostomy tube drainage and only one needed blood transfusion. The follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 3 years and recurrences were never observed. Sequela were not registered and all patients stay asymptomatic since the resolution of the hemothorax or hemopneumothorax.
