This research analyzes the impact of the TRIPs Agreement on the development of intellectual property law in Indonesia. In the context of globalization, intellectual property rights are increasingly intertwined with international trade. The rapid advancement of technology, information, and communication has spurred innovations, making the protection of intellectual property a critical issue. This research examines the influence of the TRIPs Agreement on Indonesia's intellectual property law and the adjustments Indonesia has made to align its legal framework with the WTO/TRIPs Agreement in response to evolving political dynamics. Employing doctrinal legal research based on secondary data, this research draws on literature focused on intellectual property rights. The TRIPs Agreement, established during the Uruguay Round of GATT negotiations, has significantly impacted intellectual property protection in Indonesia. Indonesia’s commitment to the Uruguay Round necessitated the adaptation of its intellectual property laws to comply with TRIPs provisions, thereby integrating these standards into the Indonesian legal system. Consequently, Indonesia is obligated to harmonize and enhance existing legal instruments and enforce stringent measures for intellectual property protection.
