Les franges urbaines d’une ville moyenne : un paysage à cultiver ?
Abstract
Different urban centres, urban fringes and suburban areas with their varied building morphologies present is a wide diversity of cultivated spaces both in town centres and outskirts. This detailed survey of the northern fringes of the city of Pau studies the relationships between urban agriculture and urban planning in a medium-sized town. Urban gardening in its many different forms and functions is analysed as an urban landscape governance tool. The case of the city of Pau, with its intention to maintain a strong relationship between town and country, is proof that it is possible to include agriculture within urban fringes and town centres.
