THE CORRELATION BETWEEN CONFLICT COMPETENCE OF ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR REPRESENTATIONS OF PARENTING

Abstract

Purpose. The article is devoted to the investigation of the correlation between conflict competence of adolescents and their representations of parenting. The analysis of these results could be the basis of a prophylaxis of an asocial behavior of teenagers. Methodology. The basis of the research is the structural approach to the study of a conflict competence, developed by M.M. Kashapov, M.V. Bashkin, C. Runde. Results. It was found, that adolescents use to apply an optimal decision as a type of reaction in a conflict, they know a lot about conflict and conflict strategies but have no skills of understanding and managing of their emotions in a conflict. There are correlations between low level of a conflict competence and teenagers’ representations of a directive style of parenting. Practical implications. The results of the study can be applied in the sphere of education in a context of prophylaxis of an asocial behavior of adolescents.
