L. B. Khavkina — the Scholar of National Library Collection Science (to the 150-th Anniversary of the Birth)
Abstract
Relevance. The research has necessitated by the systematic analysis and generalization of L. B. Khavkina’s contribution to the development of the National Library Foundation as a scientific and academic course. The aim of this paper is to systematize the coverage of the contribution of L. B. Khavkina to the development of library collection science theory. Research methodology. The contribution of L. B. Khavkina to the theory and technology of stock-forming was noted through the cognitive possibilities of systemic, biographical, prosthetic, action-oriented approaches and problem analysis. Results. The importance of the scientific heritage of L. B. Khavkina for the establishment and development of library collection as a scientific and academic course has been shown. Her main writings were analyzed, and priority areas of her scientific creative work were identified: the theory and technology of the library collection; the principles and methods of library collection raising; the use of the library collection as a criterion of the quality of staffing; and the first stage of reading management; the core of the library collection; the documentation system; the features of the formation of the local history of the library collection; the technology of the organization of the library collection; the establishment of the library collection; the storage of the library collection; the open access of users to the library collection, etc. The relevance of the ideas of L. B. Khavkina to the modern stage of the development of library collections was emphasized. Novelty. For the first time, the scientific heritage of L. B. Khavkina was examined as a whole system in the field of library collection, its scientific potential was supplemented by the theory and technology of library collection formation. The practical significance. The main results of the study of L. B. Khavkina’s research can be used by higher education institutions to improve the content of academic courses of the fundraising cycle. They are useful for modern fundraisers and experts who work in the field of library collections. Conclusion. The scientific heritage of L. B. Khavkina is so important that every new generation of fundraising will find the ideas of theoretical and methodological level in her writings, which are of fundamental importance for the further successful development of the theory of the foundation of the library, as well as practical organizational, technological and methodical recommendations that contribute to the improvement of modern technologies of the foundation of the library.
