CHANGE OF THE STATE'S ATTITUDE TO THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN THE 1980S (AS REVEALED BY THE EXAMPLE OF NOVOSIBIRSK AND BARNAUL EPARCHY)

Abstract

Religious policy and state policy of the Soviet State in the1980s are analysed in the article as well as the changes concerning the Russian Orthodox Church before and during the thousandth anniversary of Epiphany of Russia. The ar ticle addresses the State–Church relations in Novosibirsk and Barnaul eparchy and Kemerovo church formation which made preconditions for the formation of Kemerovo eparchy in 1993.
