The aim of this study consisted in describing the activities adopted in the extension project "Intervention in the Family Health Program (FHP)" in a neighborhood of Irati (Paraná), describing the use of bodily practices guided by a physical educator, in an interdisciplinary approach to psychology and phonoaudiology. The research was conducted by means of semi-structured interviews with two members of the project, representing the areas of psychology and phonoaudiology. The project involved a group health meeting held once a week for two months, with the extracurricular participation of 20 local children, in order to develop understanding of the various dimensions involved in the disease process, such as bodily practices, hygiene, care of voice and hearing, diet, and respect for the environment. Seven meetings were held, undertaken in stages. According to the reports of the academics, the training of physical education teachers enables them to work together with the FHP health teams, because correct bodily practices can reduce the damage resulting from non-communicable diseases, help to reduce drug consumption, encourage the formation of social organizations, and encourage interdisciplinarity. The interdisciplinary nature of the activities made a rewarding contribution to the professional development of the academics, which should be beneficial in terms of their future performance.
