Of Screens and Masks
Abstract
Making a play on the etymological nuances involved in the concepts of masks and screens, the author makes an ironic reflection on the controversial restoration works made by preserving facades of historic buildings and replacing the inner structures, quite a common practice in certain historic town centres. In this case, he compares two buildings in Albacete: The main branch of the savings bank Caja de Castilla-La Mancha and the headquarters of the Professional Association of Architects.
