Pengajian Umum Menurut Perspektif Islam (General Studies from an Islamic Perspective)

Abstract

General studies provides students with the basic values that every human being should have in order to function as a righteous human being. Are those values based on Islamic perspective? This paper attempts to focus on this subject by referring to Islamic perspectives that not only emphasize on the Hablum MinanNas (human relations) but also its relation to the Hablum Minallah (relationship with Allah swt) which will lead to al-Falah (success) in the world as well as the hereafter, the end destination for human beings that will last forever. Therefore, issues related to the curriculum and its axiology as well as the role of teachers and students are very important to be studied in order to achieve this rewarding goal.
